Gate Theatre has long been a place for people to take the next step in their career. Following the appointment of Shawab Iqbal as Executive Director in January 2021, we’re thrilled to announce more exciting additions to our team.
Faiza Abdulkadir is our new Development Manager. She previously worked as a Development Officer at Bush Theatre and The Yard Theatre. Faiza’s fundraising experience includes local charities, international development, music management and theatre. She is keen to use her fundraising experience and her passion for the arts to support Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities access funding for projects. Faiza is passionate about representing unheard voices in the arts and is keen to ensure communities in North London are given platforms for self-expression. (she/her)
Isabelle Culkin joins as Marketing Manager. Isabelle is a people person who is passionate about creating positive workplace cultures. She strongly believes that the values we espouse in the stories we tell on our stages should correlate with the way we treat and care for our teams, artists and audiences. Before starting at the Gate, she was Marketing Manager at Arcola Theatre. Alongside her current role, she also volunteers for Young People in the Arts (YPIA). She also enjoys producing and literary work, previously assisting on shows at Theatre503, Park Theatre, and Cadogan Hall. (she/her)
Wofai JE is our Interim General Manager, who joined the Gate in mid 2021 as a Creative Producer to cast 32 actors for our Dear Elizabeth @ Theatro Technis run. He’s a member of Stage ONE Producers programme; one half of award-winning arts organisation Initiative.dkf (Albany Artists of Change 2021, Tamasha Associate Artists 2019-20, Talawa MAKE: Sustain Artists 2017-18); and was a member of the Young Vic Introduction to Directing Programme 2016, led by Gbolahan Obisesan. Going on to be hand-picked for their Springboard scheme led by Ria Parry. Also an established model, Wofai specialises in visuals and aesthetics stemming from his fashion background. (he/him)
Alice Linnane is taking over as Producer. She strives to produce work that is inclusive, accessible and that examines the cross sections between the personal, political, global and local. Before starting at the Gate, she was Producer at Cardboard Citizens. She has previously worked with organisations like the National Theatre, Graeae, The Coronet Theatre, Barrowland Ballet and more. She is also the Producer of a small theatre company that works with learning disabled and neurodiverse adults called Square Pegs. (she/her)
