Assata Taught Me

Frankie studied Theatre and Performance Design at Liverpool Institute for Performaning Arts. She won the Off West-End Best Set Design award in 2016 for Adding Machine (Finborough Theatre) and was a Linbury prize finalist in 2015 working with the Lyric Theatre, Belfast.

Frankie’s other designs for theatre include: Orca (Southwark Playhouse), La Ronde (Bunker Theatre), Clickbait and A First World Problem (Theatre503), Barbarians (Young Vic – JMK Award 2015, Olivier Award Nominated) Grav (Torch Theatre, Wales), Stories from the Sea (Unity Theatre, Liverpool) Punk Rock (Actor’s Studio, Liverpool), A Picture of Dorian Gray and The Comedy of Errors (LIPA, Liverpool).

Her site-specific work includes co-designing: Karagula (STYX, Tottenham) and If Walls Could Talk: 100 Seel Street (Seel Street, Liverpool). She has also designed the Young Vic’s 5 Plays 5 Days and Fresh Direction projects.

She has worked as associate designer to Christopher Oram on many productions including: Casanova (Northern Ballet UK Tour), No’s Knife (Old VicTheatre), The Winter’s Tale/Harlequinade/Romeo and Juliet/The Entertainer (Garrick Theatre), Man and Superman (National Theatre), Photograph 51 (Noel Coward), Hughie (Booth Theatre, New York), and Damsel in Distress (Chichester Festival Theatre).

Jamie is about to graduate in theatre design at Middlesex University and has recently been offered one of the four places to train on the MA Theatre Design programme at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He is an Associate Artist of Red Ladder Theatre Company and reached the final shortlist of The Old Vic 12 competition last year. His work as an installation artist for the year-long piece ‘Thin Air’ was recently on display at The Royal Air Force Museum as part of a commission by the RAF for the First World War in the Air exhibition.

Joel Trill trained as a voice coach at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. He was a recipient of the 2015 VASTA Diversity Scholarship Award.
As Voice Coach his credits include: One Love (Birmingham REP), A Bitter Herb (RADA The Gielgud Theatre), Blues for an Alabama Sky (RADA GBS Studio), War & War (Complcite/Central The Pleasance Theatre), Layla’s Room (The Theatre Centre), Clynbourne Park (RADA GBS studio), Rise Up (The Theatre Centre).

Joel works regularly as a voice over artist with clients that include: Dreamwork’s UK (Postman Pat series), Nike, BBC and ITV.

Jack trained at The Guildhall School and was presented with the ETC award for lighting design in 2014. In 2016 he was nominated for the WhatsOnStage award for best lighting design for The Boys In The Band in the West End. He was also double-nominated and a finalist in the 2016 OffWestEnd Awards for best lighting designer.

This is Kalungi Ssebandeke’s first full length play. His other plays include View of Her Own Beauty, My Darling Wife, The Star and Raceless.  As an actor he previously performed at the Gate in Image of an Unknown Young Woman.  His other acting credits include The Taming of The Shrew (Two Gents); We Are Proud to Present…(Bush Theatre, The Offies – Best Ensemble): One Monkey Don't Stop No Show (Eclipse Theatre), and an upcoming role on BBC's Doctor Who. For television, his credits include Cucumber, The Well, Dubplate Drama and The Dumping Ground; and for film Shoot Me and Columbite Tantalite.

Assata Taught Me has been longlisted for the Alfred Fagon award.

Sam House studied Lighting Design and Production Electrics at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Graduating in 2015.

As Production Electrician his theatre credits include: An American in Paris Press Launch (Waldorf Hotel), La Ronde (Bunker Theatre), As You Like It (Vanbrugh Theatre).

As Lighting Designer his theatre credits include: Scouse: A Comedy of Terrors (Grand Central Hall, Liverpool), Vocal Faculty Scenes (Royal Academy of Music) and The Bright and Bold Design (George Bernard Shaw Theatre).

Trained at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
