Meet Your Neighbours @ the Gate

Emily specialises in creating work with non-professional performers. Directing credits include: Brainstorm (National Theatre and Park Theatre, as co-director for Islington Community Theatre); Wuthering Heights (Ambassador's Theatre, for the National Youth Theatre); A Declaration From the People (National Theatre); The Kilburn Passion (Tricycle Theatre) and Henry V (Southwark Playhouse, as winner of the Better Bankside Shakespeare Award).
 
Staff Directing credits include Rufus Norris’ productions of Behind the Beautiful Forevers and Everyman (National Theatre). She works extensively with marginalised communities and has delivered projects for the Royal Court, Unicorn Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, Chickenshed and Synergy. She is currently an Associate Artist of Islington Community Theatre and Resident Director at the National Theatre, having recently been awarded the inaugural Peter Hall Director Award by the National Theatre Foundation. 

Clare Slater is the Literary Manager at the Donmar Warehouse, dramaturgically supporting all of the plays on the Donmar’s stage, with recent productions including Limehouse by Steve Waters and The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui by Bertolt Brecht in a new adaptation by Bruce Norris. She previously worked as Executive Director at the Gate. She is also a freelance adaptor and dramaturg and her recent freelance credits include Idomeneus, Here’s How It All Began (Gate Theatre), The Last Mermaid, Man To Man (Wales Millennium Centre), Lotty’s War (UK tour), We Have Fallen (Theatre 503/Underbelly). She previously worked as the Assistant Literary Manager at the National Theatre and in TV and film development with Rare Day.
